She’s also co-founder and core member of Sipat Lawin Inc. and an Alumni of contemporary performance collective Sipat Lawin Ensemble (2010-2019). Gobyerno Project
The GOBYERNO Project is an interactive and participatory performance-workshop inviting audiences to create, perform, and film their ideal government and communities; create their own ruling bodies and develop a [new] constitution or propose policies: the audience-participants collectively re-imagine social institutions and create alternatives. The project uses and explores the language of theater, performance, games, filming and other means of engagement activating audience agency as an opportunity to question and exercise citizenship, and push forward the ideas of ‘performance’ and ‘performance processes’ as rehearsals for transformation, revolution and collective action.
GOBYERNO Project is envisioned as a 6-year project, a work-in progress, a work-in-development finding new forms and ways of doing by Sipat Lawin Ensemble alumni members together with artist collaborators. 2019 marks its fifth year. The project also seeks to answer our questions of ‘performing together’ and what kind of performances do we create and with whom or for whom in our current climate. For the Democracy Discourse Series, the GOBYERNO Project aims to engage and create ‘performances’ with local communities and organizations in Manila. Another intention of the project is to retroactively archive the performances, rehearsals, and devising data (films, photos, notes, etc.) we have gathered since 2015, going thru past performances and engagements, and make sense of the futures we have created that is our ‘now’.
